MISSIONARY NEWS

DAVID and LESLYE SCHNEIER
Tikvat Yisrael has been since the very beginning, very active in the missions.  We, as a congregation, have supported several missionaries worldwide, in Ukraine, Africa, and Israel, and continue to do so today.  One of those ministries is the congregation in Odessa, Ukraine, under the leadership of David and Leslye Schneier.  Gateway to Zion Messianic Congregation has been very successful in reaching Jews and Gentiles in the former Soviet Union.  For the last decade, the congregation has grown and spun off five congregations, including an Arabic Reconciliation Ministry.  The Lord has also enlarged the borders of David and Leslye to now include a Jew/Arabic Reconciliation Ministry if France.

WALTER LEIBER
Walter Leiber is the founder of Tikvat Yisrael congregation.  For close to three decades, Walter faithfully served and ministered as Rabbi to the congregation.  As the years progressed, Walter was invited to teach and minister more and more in Ukraine and in other countries.  By 2000, as Walter began to travel more heavily, he felt that the Lord was calling him into international ministry.  In July, 2002, our congregation released Walter and his wife Linda to the work that Adonai had for them to do.

Since then, they have been ministering in several countries including Ukraine, Belarus, Argentina, Brazil, and Israel.  Walter is also the head of the International Missions Ministry with the UMJC.

MARISSA KLEIN
Marissa was a founding member of Tikvat Yisrael and has served in several areas of the ministry.  In 2002, Marissa was released into the mission field.  She continues to actively serve today with Jews for Jesus here in the United States and in Argentina.

GABRIELLA FUREDI
Gabriella is no novice when it comes to the mission field.  For decades she served in Sierra Leon, Africa, as a missionary until it fell into total chaos due to a revolution.  Even though her life was in danger, Gabriella wanted to remain in Sierra Leon.  Under mandatory evacuation, Gabriella was forced to leave.

For years she prayed and sought the Lord to return her to her beloved Sierra Leon.  In 2004, Gabriella returned to the mission field for six months.  She returned to the States in early April for a few months, before going back  to Sierra Leon in August.

GEORGE and MARIA MIRSADSHANOW
George and Maria have, for the past nine years, been actively serving on short term mission trips to Mexico in Matamoros and in Aldama. Each year they have traveled for the Big Feed held on December 29th, 2006 (view). On other occasions, they have made trips to work on construction projects, to teach the ladies how to sew, and on medical trips as interpreters.

In 2002, they visited Ukraine for the first time with Walter Leiber for a two week period. They ministered to Holocaust survivors, and in several orphanages.  Two years later they returned for a month long trip.  During this visit, George worked on refurbishing a gym at an orphanage for deaf children, while Maria taught several ladies sewing techniques.  Their plans are to soon enter full time ministry serving both in Israel and in Ukraine.
